From 2022 to 2025, we will be working on this EU-funded project as one of four partners taking stock of the community organising landscape across our respective national contexts, with the aim of identifying what’s working and what we can improve upon with respect to organising with migrant communities.
Community Organising for All (COFA) brings together four education-focused organisations from Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, and the UK for this collaborative research project, which will produce multimedia content and a web toolkit for organisers looking to expand and deepen their impact.
Across this project, we’ll be coming together with our partners at Giolli Cooperativa Sociale, Zavod BOB, and POKAZ to share expertise in areas ranging from participatory ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and informal youth education to Theatre of the Oppressed methods.
We’ll also be conducting research in our local contexts and with our communities to identify the strengths and challenges of community organising, an increasingly important tool of grassroots resistance and action in the face of populist and anti-migrant movements gaining traction across Europe.
Together, we’ll produce:
- a research publication/article on the community organising landscape in our four respective national contexts,
- a podcast devoted to community organising (or, listen on Spotify),
- a theatre performance and collection of Legislative Theatre best practices,
- a guide and toolkit on using participatory video and Newspaper Theatre, and
- a web toolkit on multilingual participatory facilitation.
