Conference and Community

Practitioner Conference

We run an annual conference for ESOL practitioners and anyone interested in participatory teaching. The conference typically focuses on a particular theme and takes place over 1-3 days, featuring workshops and sessions on pedagogy, teaching techniques and exercises, sociolinguistics, and more.

Our next conference will take place during spring 2025. Details on the conference theme, dates and location to follow.

Read our round-up and reflections on the 2023 conference, hosted alongside our colleagues from the EFA Community of Practice, which focused on developing tools for trauma-informed pedagogy.

Community of Practice

In tandem, we co-facilitate a Community of Practice group that meets monthly to discuss the practice of teaching, or pedagogy. Each session generally revolves around a specific topic, and past meet-ups have covered elements such as LGBTQ+ inclusion in the ESOL classroom, Theatre of the Oppressed methods of ESOL teaching, and more. There is no cost to join the sessions, and all practitioners are welcome.

Do follow us on social media and sign up to our newsletter to ensure you hear any announcements and updates regarding the next conference, as well as for the monthly themes and dates of our free Community of Practice sessions.
