Seminar: Participatory Pedagogy & Counter-narratives on Migration

EFA is one of the leading practitioners of participatory ESOL in the UK and we are committed to sharing our experience with others. This seminar is part of this work.

The Migreat! Project brings together four educational organisations from across Europe, including EFA, who are deeply concerned about the rise in anti-immigration sentiment and action across the continent and determined to do something about it.

Migreat! has international learning and capacity building at its core. Educators across our four countries have worked with migrants and refugees to develop and spread positive narratives around migration. We share our expertise, learn new methods and bring these methods to our wider networks in order to have a bigger impact in the crucial work of creating counter-narratives.

In this seminar, you will:

  1. Learn and practise using participatory tools for exploring the theme of migration
  2. Learn about the work of the Migreat! Project
  3. Critically evaluate visual tools created with migrants and refugees using participatory methods
  4. Discuss the relationship between participatory pedagogy and counter-narratives on migration
