English for Action’s latest research report is now live on the British Council’s ESOL Nexus website.
http://esol.britishcouncil.org/power-group-discussion
The report explores the benefits of working on discussion in the ESOL classroom. What discussions work? How are topics selected and sustained? How do students interact? How can teachers and students work together to improve the class dynamic? What can be done to develop students’ discussion skills? How can discussion be a platform for taking action?
All these questions and more are explored in the report. The research was carried out at Tower Hamlets college over six weeks in November/December 2013. The teacher/researchers are Dermot Bryers, Becky Winstanley and Melanie Cooke.
Please read and share! Or even better, invite one of us to talk about the research or do a teacher training.
