“I’ve been in the UK and I’ve never seen anything like this” – Sorifa talking about the mummies at the British Museum.
Eight of us from Surrey Square travelled up to Russell Square on the 188. We had a couple of hours to have a good look around the British Museum and it was the first time many of the group had visited. We discussed whether it was right that so many beautiful things were kept in London, away from the countries of origin. We also agreed that it’s so important to have free museums and that is one of the brilliant things about London. We finished the trip with lunch in the Garden Cafe in the middle of Russell Square. Thanks to Elisabete for getting a round of teas and coffees and thanks to Trust for London for funding the trip.
