English for Action is delighted that free school meals for infant children will be rolled out across the England. We have championed free school meals in Southwark, the first borough to provide free school meals for primary age children (years 1-4). In May we met with the deputy director of children’s services and congratulated her for promoting free school meals and encouraged the council to extend the policy to nursery and Year 5-6 children. Now let’s persuade the three main political parties to include free school meals for all primary school children (not just year 1 and 2) in their election manifestos.
